it began with the word
he rolled it fast
then the word
bit back

so he watched TV
with his mother
& drank & drank & drank
until he died.

Baudelaire

Baudelaire ate opium
Baudelaire loved wine & smoked hashish
Baudelaire celebrated the company of whores
Baudelaire wrote beautiful poems
but spent his money badly

If Baudelaire was around today
I'd invite him over to the house
I'd crack him a longnecked Rolling Rock
& offer him my pipe
I'd say: "You're not such a bad guy Charlie.
